jilted's wacky clear green pc [version 2.16.2004] (c) copyright 1972-2004 jilted C:\funkbum\computer\greenpc>dir this report is in retrospect as i didn't have a digital camera at the time i have some pics of it, just not as documented as the digidice the green pc was my first major upgrade in almost 2 years when i built the previous machine, a p4 1.5ghz, it had just came out and was a very solid machine this would probably be the last time i could get away with my old building philosophy 'when the cpu frequency doubles, i'll build a new pc' going from a 1.5 to a 3.06 did just that now its been a year and we've only made it up to 3.4 and i am already itching to tinker here's the poop for the green pc:   key lime green clear computer case from C3case.com   asus p4g8x-deluxe motherboard   2x512 crucial pc2700 ram for a total of 1 gig running dual channel   intel pentium4 3.06ghz 533fsb   ati all-in-wonder radeon 9700   pioneer dvr-105 4x dvd-r/rw   liteon 52x24x52x cd-r/rw   creative labs sound blaster audigy 2 platinum   newq 3379 platinum graphic eq   swiftech mcx4000 heatsink   enermax whipser power supply   various cool fan grills   various led fans   various leds for hdd, power, etc the case is really cool... its by far the best quality acrylic case you can find the motherboard is as good as you would expect from asus... top notch i am not much on overclocking, crucial ram has never failed me and it's high quality & reasonably priced as with any time you buy the fastest intel cpu, you definitely pay the price for it :) i have no complaints with the aiw radeon 9700... its plenty power (hope doom3 will run on it) i've had the pioneer dvr-105 for over a year and i love it the liteon 52x is awesome... but anything is better than that horrible tdk velocd 24x i had i love creative soud cards... the are the standard... and i dig the front mounted controls the newq is strictly cosmetic... i don't use it for sound processing i have a stack of fans & grills... led fans, cathode cans, red, green, blue, uv, etc i swapped out the fans in the psu with led fans so it would be cool :) first i went for the red led fan look... i didn't like it then i went with the uv cathode fans... didn't like that either then i went with blue uv led fans... finally something i like! as an added bonus, the uv led fans made the case edges glow that was an unexpected bonus and a very cool effect one thing to note, with all those fans, this case was loud i had quite a few people come by and take pics of my case at quakecon 2004 they picked me as a finalist in the amd case mod competition but when your other finalists include a pc built into a coffin you don't stand much chance :) C:\funkbum\computer\greenpc>cd.._ |
